You will find that there is something to do for everyone in our beautiful region. Make sure that you take a swim at one of our award winning beaches, go snorkeling at Horseshoe Bay and drop a line in at our jetty on Santa Barbara Parade. If you like walking you will enjoy the numerous walking tracks which will take you to some of the most amazing lookouts you have ever seen. Flagstaff Hill, for example offers you a 360 degree view of the area.
Bowen has a very rich and interesting history which has been depicted in the numerous murals around town. You can find further information at the historical museum, which has been described as one of the best regional museums in the state. Our region is also well know for its diverse industries: agriculture, tourism, mining and fishing. Farmers grow all kinds of fruit and vegetables here- they call Bowen the salad bowl of Australia for a reason!
The coal mining town of Collinsville is well worth a visit. Only about one hours’ drive from Bowen, Collinsville offers a warm welcome to all travelers. You should have a look at the Coal Face Museum and historical Bowen River Hotel. On your way to Collinsville you might even spot some wild emus, buffalo and camels.
Enjoy your time in our lovely towns and have a look a where the bush meets the beach.
