Bowen Tourism and Business is a not for profit organization whose main role is to promote and showcase our beautiful region and its businesses.
Bowen Tourism and Business operates two information outlets in Bowen and one in Collinsville. The Bowen Visitor Information Centre on the Bruce Highway, south of Bowen, is also our head office. About 40,000 visitors stop at the busy Information Centre, adjacent to the Big Mango, every year.
The centre was established in 2001 by the Bowen Tourism and Regional Development Board and our organisation has seen many changes since then.
In 2007, local businessman Paul McLaughlin took the reins as Chairman of Tourism Bowen and led the organisation through many highs, including winning multiple awards, organising advertising campaigns, local events, doing television and radio interviews promoting Bowen and much more. In 2014 Tourism Bowen underwent a name change to Bowen Tourism and Business to reflect the ever increasing representation of Bowen businesses within the organisation. In 2015 after nine years at the helm, Paul resigned and Jonathan Freeman, a local mango farmer and entrepreneur, took on the role to lead Bowen Tourism and Business onto bigger and better things.
Bowen Tourism and Business is a not for profit organisation that operates the Information Centre at the iconic Big Mango and an Information Booth on the foreshore in town. Both are well worth a visit for some souvenirs, information pamphlets, maps, local knowledge and of course our famous Mango Sorbet made with 100% local Bowen Special mangoes, and only available at the centres.
Bowen Tourism & Business is a not-for-profit organisation; led by a board of elected committee members.
