Solway Circuit

Description

You will be amazed by the natural beauty, the aquamarine waters and stunning island scenery of this enjoyable bush walk. Located behind world-renowned Whitehaven Beach on Whitsunday Island, the Solway Circuit gives you a spectacular view over Solway Passage and the surrounding islands.

Traditional home of the Ngaro Aboriginal people, this walk is part of the Ngaro Sea Trail on Whitsunday, Hook and South Molle islands. The 1.2 kilometre one-way circuit winds its way uphill to a natural rock platform perfect for picture-taking. Trackside information gives you an insight into the history of the landscape which was formed over 10,000 years ago when sea levels flooded the former mainland mountain range. This moderate grade walk will take you about 40 minutes to complete but the views will stay in your memory forever.

Do take: walking shoes, camera, hat, sunscreen and water.
Do not take: this is a National Park so please 'leave it as you found it' and do not souvenir any flora, fauna, sand, seashells or other pieces of the natural habitat.

Did you know? The amazing blue colour of the water in the Whitsundays is created by the fine silica sand scattering the sunlight as it penetrates the water.
