Explore Bowen & the Whitsundays here...

Bowen Tourism and Business operates the Bowen Visitor Information Centre located at the Big Mango on the Bruce Highway and the Information Booth on the Front Beach Esplanade. Our team of staff and volunteers welcome more than 44,000 visitors each year and promote both Bowen and the whole of the Whitsundays region to visitors.

At both the Information Centre and Information Booth visitors can plan their holiday in Bowen and the Whitsundays by booking tours and accommodation. Our friendly staff assist visitors in finding the perfect experience for their needs. Once their local visit is arranged, our trained staff can also help visitors plan the next stages of their holiday, booking accommodation and tours up and down the East Coast of Queensland. We also stock a wide range of maps and visitor guides. Our staff and volunteers have travelled extensively through Queensland and are able to answer detailed questions about routes and travelling distances.

Are you looking for a perfect gift or holiday momento? At the Bowen Visitor Information Centre we have a wide range of gift options perfect for travellers of all ages. Take a little piece of Bowen home with our range of mango souvenirs, or remember your unique Whitsundays experience with gorgeous reef momentos.

Accessibility

The Bowen Visitor Information Centre is designed to be welcoming and accessible to all visitors. Our main entrance features double doors to ensure easy wheelchair access. Additionally, ramps are available on both sides of the undercover areas for convenient entry. We provide a disabled-accessible restroom, complete with a change table for parents and caregivers. For visitors with visual impairments, we offer a Bowen Audio Guide, which can be accessed through our Visitor Information Centre App here: Bowen Audio Guide — Australian Visitor Centres App or online at Bowen Visitor Information Centre Audio Guides and Accessibility Information — Vacayit.

Sustainability

At the Bowen Visitor Information Centre, we are committed to reducing our environmental impact. We have eliminated plastic straws and instead provide free wooden spoons for enjoying sorbets and ice cream. Our building is powered in part by solar panels installed on the roof, contributing to clean energy use. Outside the centre, you’ll find a recycling bin — by using it, you’re helping us support the Royal Flying Doctor Service through our fundraising efforts. The centre is owned and managed by the Whitsunday Regional Council, which is dedicated to sustainability through its Climate Change Mitigation Strategy. You can learn more about this plan here: Climate Change Mitigation Strategy.
