Overview:

Bowen Tourism and Business (BTB) is a not-for-profit organisation whose main role is to promote and showcase our beautiful region and its businesses. BTB operates two Visitor Information Centres, works with stakeholders to inspire outstanding visitor experiences and promotes the destination and membership base.

The core role of the Marketing and Sales Assistant is to provide exceptional customer experiences at the VIC through the delivery of destination advice, accommodation and tour information and booking services.

Reporting to the Sales and Marketing Manager, you will also provide assistance in several key marketing initiatives, including social media, website and app maintenance. You will form part of a dedicated and cohesive team that delivers results for the Bowen Region through destination marketing, bookings, sales and exceptional customer experiences.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

Sales

Provide exceptional customer experiences for visitors through the delivery of information services, product advice and booking services.

Promote Bowen and encourage visitation with advice on tourist destinations

Utilise booking systems to arrange accommodation and tour bookings for visitors

Develop a deep understanding of accommodation and tours available for visitors through product famils, communication with product sales teams

Attend BTB networking functions and AGM to meet with members and industry representatives.

Respond to customer enquiries via phone, email, and webchat.

Open and close the Visitor Centre as required including setting up for daily operation, consolidating daily takings and ensuring the Centre is kept clean and tidy at all times.

Assist in restocking retail products, brochures and various promotional material within the visitor centre.

Assist with the training of volunteers and support, encourage and recognise their role in the operation of the Visitor Centre.

Marketing

Develop, schedule and deliver social media content as directed by Sales and Marketing Manager

Monitor and respond to social media enquiries where relevant

Monitor and respond to online reviews such as Trip Advisor and Google

Maintain the BTB website, ensuring content is relevant and up to date

Maintain the BTB app ensuring content and event calendars are up to date

Provide statistics and insights on marketing tools such as website and social media for use in monthly and annual reports

Assist Sales and Marketing Manager in all other duties as required

Skills and Experience:

Professional experience in a marketing role within the tourism and sales industry.

Strong written and verbal communication abilities.

A strong understanding of the Whitsundays region, and the challenges faced in regional tourism.

A strong understanding of the Queensland and Australian Tourism industry and roles of the four levels of organisation established to promote tourism product.

Passion for working in a community organisation.

Ability to motivate and support others while encouraging adherence to goals and objectives.

Ability to adapt to different tasks as they arise and to demonstrate flexibility within a team environment.
