Easter Weekend Guide Bowen

Adventuring in Queensland this Easter? Bowen is the place to be - beaches, seafood, family friendly spaces and LOADS of family budget friendly accommodation options to choose from. Make a plan, hook up the van / pitch the tent and pack the car!

We've got all the tips on where to go & what to do to make your Easter weekend the best one ever. Let's 'hop' to it:

Arrived early for the weekend? Make sure you packed your walking shoes. A short hike from Horseshoe Bay will take you to the rotary lookout for a super view down on the bay - great for planning your attack on the weekend! (There's where I will lay my towel, that's where I'll eat my fish and chips, that's the reef I'm going to snorkel...)

If you're up for plenty of activity, Bowen has a host of outdoor activities to fill up your weekend (bonus - most of them are FREE and super easy to do!) or head out to the Big Mango Info centre and book in your Whitsunday tour. From Whitehaven beach day trips to island hopping and Bowen sunset and day trips, there's an Easter Hamper size selection to choose from! Worried you'll miss out? Check out the website; or give the team a call to take advantage of the dedicated and personalised booking service.

Good Friday for Aussies means there's only one option on the menu: fresh local seafood on the beach! Grab your local catch from one of our local seafood co-ops, or visit our excellent Fish n Chip shops for a dinner to go. Then all you have to do is pick your spot at one of our beachfront parks and enjoy your feast. There's plenty of free bbq's and picnic shelters, or settle in on the sand to watch the sunset.

In between trying to catch the Easter bunny and catching a few z's on the beach, why not catch the latest new release in Bowen's iconic and oh so quirky Summergarden Theatre. Popcorn, air-con, comfy seats: sounds like a plan! Open every day except Good Friday. Check out the movie times here.

After chillin' at the movies, it's time to celebrate family, friends, food & fun. Make a plan to head out for a great pub feed at one of the 'locals', or fill your shopping basket with goodies from the local shops and have a cook up in style. If you are lucky enough to be camping out at one of our brilliant caravan parks, make use of their excellent camp kitchens, otherwise seek out one of the many beachside parks with a barbie and enjoy an arvo in paradise while the kids run on the beach.

Up and at 'em! If you've got kiddos with you we know you'll be up at the crack of dawn to hunt out the goodies the Easter Bunny has bought. Even if you are without small people, you'll want to be up early because the sunrises in Bowen are NEXT LEVEL!

After all the excitement (and chocolate eggs) you'll be needing some serious chill time. Only one thing for it, head to the beach! Must pack items? Towel, snorkel, sunscreen and a good book.
